General Definition of Work
Performs novice to intermediate skilled trades work operating various types of equipment, performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the general direction of the Park Maintenance Foreman and Park Maintenance Technician II.

Novice to intermediate knowledge of the principles and practices of operating small, medium and heavy trucks and equipment; novice to intermediate knowledge of the general mechanical operation of tools of the trade; general knowledge of the traffic laws and regulations governing equipment operation; general knowledge of the occupational hazards involved and the safety precautions necessary for the proper operation of equipment; novice to intermediate skill understanding the mechanical operation of equipment, tools and materials; novice to intermediate skill and care in the operation of the equipment; mechanical aptitude; ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals; ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages; ability to work independently with little or no supervision; ability to understand and follow oral and written directions; ability to make minor repairs and adjustments to equipment; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED and minimal experience working with equipment or machines, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) is preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements
This work requires the regular exertion of up to 10 pounds of force, frequent exertion of up to 50 pounds of force and occasional exertion of over 100 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling and lifting, frequently requires climbing or balancing and occasionally requires sitting, speaking or hearing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, tasting or smelling and repetitive motions; work requires close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus, depth perception, color perception and peripheral vision; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, using of measuring devices, assembly or fabrication of parts within arms length, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work regularly requires working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, exposure to outdoor weather conditions and exposure to vibration, work is generally in a loud noise location (e.g. grounds maintenance).
Special Requirements
Applicable safety and specific equipment training must be completed.
Valid driver's license in the State of Tennessee or ability to obtain within 3 months.
