Overview:

Join REI as a Program Manager, Visual Merchandising Administration, and help shape the in-store experience for customers. In this important role, oversee various Visual Merchandising programs. Manage program schedules, assignments, project activities, and action plan execution for both internal and external projects. Use your skills in budgeting, planning, project management, resource optimization, maintenance, and risk or opportunity assessment. As a manager in the Stores Organization within the Commercial Division, work closely with cross-divisional teams and vendor partners. Develop and implement REI's Visual Merchandising strategies. Responsibilities:
  • Drive execution in all project stages throughout the year.
  • Maintain open communication and awareness between cross-divisional partners, including the in-store experience team.
  • Collaborate with store design, fixture, marketing, and visual merchandising teams to deliver on visual strategies for store programs.
  • Serve as the main administrator for the Visual Merchandising (VM) project. Manage schedules, assignments, resources, annual planning, auditing, reporting, training, education, and team support.
  • Build, forecast, and track budgets for all assigned programs and components.
  • Place purchase orders and manage receiving, reviewing, and auditing invoices. Handle RFQs, RFPs, and related documents for visual merchandising and store graphics projects.
  • Innovate and identify solutions to problems with minimal guidance.
  • Act as the key decision-maker for program goals.
  • Serve as the main project liaison between internal, cross-divisional, and third-party partners, managing timelines, dependencies, issue resolution, and asset delivery.
  • Ensure accurate resource allocation within project schedules to drive team focus and efficiency.
  • Motivate and coordinate cross-departmental project teams to deliver high-quality projects from planning through deployment.
  • Share expertise and best practices with other program managers. Manage direct reports, if applicable, to guide visual merchandising strategies and business goals.
  • Provide oversight and root cause analysis of issues affecting program performance.
  • Partner with cross-divisional peers to ensure programs are aligned and integrated with seasonal and annual marketing and merchandising initiatives.
  • Manage both external and internal business relationships with vendors, clients, strategic partners, and agencies.
  • Evaluate partnership opportunities and proposals for strategic relevance and alignment with REI's core values.
  • Leverage Smartsheet, Workfront, and other work management tools to centralize project requirements, schedules, documentation, and resource time tracking.
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced team environment, demonstrating exceptional multitasking and prioritization skills.
  • Drive awareness and project alignment through proactive updates on key milestones and deliverables.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and collaboration skills to ensure projects are delivered on time, with quality, and within budget.

Required Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience in operations, warehouse, or visual merchandising, preferably with a specialty retailer.
  • Proficiency with MAC/PC and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience using project management software and scheduling tools.
  • Ability to be productive and flexible in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization.
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity and evolving role definitions, serving multiple work groups and personalities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Merchandising experience in the retail industry.
  • Experience with retail fixtures, components, packaging, assembly, and application.

Base Pay Range: $85,400.00 - $136,700.00 per year
